What a beautiful morning to have breakfast on the rooftop of the Lani Kai.
Surrounded by the blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Watching all the resorts up and down the beach getting ready for sun seekers.
We met good friends there for breakfast. The food was excellent. By far the was enjoying Bloody Mary’s with the meal. We all talked about what the day had in store for us all. Plans to gather with more friends later that evening.
The shops were just opening after our meal, so we decided to walk and take in the sights and sounds of the morning. The shops on the beach are so fun to see what they all have in common and what is new.
Great day!
Hurricane Ian on September 29th, 2022
People of the Gulf of Mexico were not quite ready for what was coming. Hurricane Ian came on shore as a Cat 5 on Fort Myers Beach. Wiped out the beach and also surrounding little islands. The weather channel couldn’t even believe the devastation it caused. Close to where we liked to stay is Sanibel Island. The storm ripped the causeway right into the water. The big bridge did survive believe or not, but the island was ripped away. It took the state to get a ferryboat company there to help get workers over to see the damages.
The area is still in shock and to be expected. The reports states that it will take a couple of years or more to get back on its feet.
Praying for healing.
